TAFE Queensland - Gold Coast Region opened the doors to their Trade Training Centre at Ashmore on Friday 4 August.
Visitors were able to try their hand at a wide range of trade activities including air conditioning/ refrigeration, automotive, building construction, cabinet making, carpentry, electrical, engineering, horticulture, marine, painting, plumbing, shopfitting, tiling and plastering.
The event offered something for everyone from school students to hobbyists and up-skillers to career changers, with fun interactive displays and competitions to be won.
There were exhibitors from other TAFE Queensland areas such as health, fitness, nursing, hospitality, beauty and hairdressing.
Gold Coast Radio station 90.9 Sea FM entertained the crowds from 11 -1pm with their Pop Up party and plenty of giveaways.
A free BBQ was provided and there were lots of opportunities to take guided tours of the Trade Training Centre throughout the day.
Fun activities took place throughout the day including a tyre changing challenge, bricklaying lessons, plant propagating demonstrations, switch wiring classes as well as cupcake decorating and on-site hair braiding.
Industry experts were on hand to support and talk to participants about their potential career in the trade industry.
