TAFE Queensland Gold Coast Director takes out AUSTAFE Leaders and Legends Award in Canberra

TAFE Queensland Gold Coast Director of Business Development, Alfred Slogrove, has been announced as the AUSTAFE 2015 Emerging Leader for Support Services at the National AUSTAFE Awards held in Canberra on 29 October.

Mr Slogrove was awarded the accolade, just two months after taking out the Queensland and Northern Territory AUSTAFE award on the Gold Coast.

Introduced in 2014, the accolade is awarded to an individual who has the potential to make an outstanding contribution to Australian vocational training and education over and above that which is expected by virtue of their employment. The award is for leadership rather than management or supervision.

Alfred and his 20-strong team, drive and secure commercial outcomes for TAFE Queensland through business development, telephone sales and Vocational Education and Training (VET) in schools.

Mr Slogrove was recognised for initiatives that he and his team have been able to share across each of the six TAFE Queensland regions. These include the initiation and establishment of an online gateway payment system and quality assured processes, along with three major VET in Schools initiatives.

Mr Slogrove said the award was a reflection of the efforts his team has put in over the last few years.

"I was very honored to be awarded this tremendous accolade," said Mr Slogrove.

"This award is not just a reflection on the goals I have been working towards for TAFE Queensland Gold Coast, but also the support and hard work my team has put in outside of their expected employment duties."

TAFE Queensland Gold Coast General Manager, Jenny Dodd noted that the awards were a great reflection of the work being done by TAFE Queensland Gold Coast leaders.

"We're very proud that our staff continue to deliver outstanding and innovative initiatives that not only contribute to the success of our business, but ensure that local businesses have trained staff to help them succeed as well", said Ms Dodd.

AUSTAFE is a national association committed to promoting excellence and to developing leaders in Vocational Education and Training (VET).
