Explore, discover and engage at the Coomera Campus Open Day

GOLD Coasters can discover new pathways to education and employment at TAFE Queensland Gold Coast's Coomera campus open day.

The $26m custom built creative campus will open to the public on Saturday 15 October from 9.30am to 2.30pm offering interactive displays, demonstrations, tours and career advice.

TAFE Queensland Gold Coast's Coomera campus is the quintessential home for the creators, innovators, entertainers and movie makers.      

This state-of-the-art facility providesthe best possible creative learning eoms, PC and Mac computer labs, digital video and editing suites, 3D motion capture and production control facilities, a amphitheatre and much more.

TAFE Queensland Gold Coast General Manager, Jenny Dodd, says the open day will provide information for those looking to commence study, upskill or change careers with information on courses and training opportunities.

"There will be hands-on displays and interactive demonstrations as well as the opportunity to meet highly trained teachers and career advisors," she said.

Industry partners such as Gilmour Space Corporation and NEP Broadcasting will be on site showcasing projects that students are involved in.

Ms Dodd said Gilmour Space Corporation will exhibit one of their flight simulators and talk through the projects that students have been assisting with.

"Our current Interactive Digital Media and Bachelor of Gaming and Interactive Design students have been working with Gilmour Space Corporation on a 3D Virtual Reality simulation of the cockpit of the Apollo 11 Command Module," she said.      

"NEP Broadcasting, who are the host broadcaster for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games will be at the open day to discuss the broadcast training that will be delivered in 2017 to the Diploma of Screen and Media students."    

Open day visitors will be entertained with live music from music production students, as well as competitions and giveaways running throughout the day.    

TAFE Queensland Gold Coast offers a range of flexible learning options in many courses including full-time, part-time, blended learning, online delivery and on-the-job training.

TAFE Queensland also offers Bachelor degrees at the Coomera campus across Interactive Digital Media and Contemporary Music in partnership with the University of Canberra.

Bachelor students engage in practical industry immersive training over a 3 year period producing highly skilled work ready graduates with a VET Diploma and a Higher Education Degree.
