One outstanding student and one teacher represented TAFE Queensland - Gold Coast Region at the South East regional Queensland Training Awards in July.
Cameron Coulston (Apprentice of the Year) and Emma Barlow (VET Teacher or Trainer of the Year) were selected as finalists from hundreds of nominations across the region.
Cameron Coulston is excited and appreciates the opportunity to represent TAFE Queensland Gold Coast along with his family who have supported him through this time.
"It's really nice to be recognised for the efforts that you put in and I sincerely thank those who nominated me for these awards," said Mr Coulston.
When Emma Barlow received the call about her nomination she felt overwhelmed and extremely humbled.
"I feel so honoured to receive this nomination amongst the hundreds of talented teachers across the region; this acknowledgement is truly amazing and recognises my passion for training and the job satisfaction I get with my students' success," said Ms Barlow.
The Queensland Training Awards are Queensland's highest recognised award in education and are an initiative of the Department of Education, Training and Employment.
They recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations within the vocational education and training sector who strive for excellence, best practice and innovation.
The South East regional Final presentation ceremony was held on Friday 21 July at Sea World on the Gold Coast.
