Pack your bags for Japan!

Air tickets are cheaper so it's a great chance to go to Japan! This course is designed by Junko for absolute beginners who want to learn the necessary travel phrases, how to pronounce place names, order meals, shop and how to get around. Full of fun activities that focus on speaking and listening skills. By the end of the course you'll be ready to pack your bags!

Students participate in role play, games and activities which makes the learning process fun and easy. The facilitator is a native Japanese person.

Topics include: basic pronunciation, romanised Japanese (romaji - this helps to read Japanese place names), necessary phrases for travel, daily greetings and expressions, introducing yourself, asking the time and business hours, asking directions, ordering food and buying souvenirs.

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register. Course details

Resources required

  • Students will receive the resource ‘Japanese for Busy People 1: Romanised Version book and CD' as part of their enrolment fee.
  • Students are to bring pen and paper for note taking.
  • Students need to present their Confirmation of Enrolment to the car park attendant each week to be eligible for discounted parking.

Classes are offered on:

  • Monday 29 January - Monday 26 March 2018 from 12.30pm-2.30pm (9 sessions) at Southport, Level 2, Room 212
  • Tuesday 6 February - Tuesday 27 March 2018 from 6.30pm-9.00pm (8 sessions) at Southport, Level 2, Room 205

Please note - This course is offered once a week on a specific day each week. Throughout the year we vary the days that each delivery package may be offered to suit students’ needs and availability. Students are enrolling in a specific day for the duration of the course. Refer to the dates on your Confirmation of Enrolment.

Outcome

At the end of the course you will be ready to travel and be able to read romanised Japanese names and place names, greet Japanese people, introduce yourself, ask the time and business hours, ask directions, order meals and shopping.

Opportunities to use what you have learned exist in hospitality, tourism, with homestays, as a pilot, flight attendant, or in work experience overseas.
