Immerse yourself into the French language!

This very popular course is designed for students who have completed French Conversation - Level 1.

The focus of this course is to reinforce the basics acquired in French Conversation - Level 1 or equivalent, and to progress towards more complex sentence structures and grammatical elements.  A mini-immersion style will be used in class with French language used increasingly to familiarise students with the sounds and nuances of the language.

Topics include:

  • Self-introduction
  • To talk about / to introduce one’s family
  • The verbs “to like”, “to love”, “to dislike”
  • Interests, likes and dislikes
  • Regular verbs at the present tense – description of common situations
  • Numbers, date, phone numbers, time
  • The genre of nouns: masculine vs feminine
  • Using adjectives
  • Possession: my/your/his
  • To talk about future projects

In the final class students will be encouraged to participate in a “crepe degustation”, this will be a fun cultural experience for all involved

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register. Course details

Students that have completed an Introductory French course or equivalent high school qualification are welcome, or those who simply have a basic knowledge of the French language.

Resources required

  • Students please bring your 'Talk French Mixed Media' (Book and CD) resource for this course. If you do not have this resource, it can be purchased for $30.00 by phoning Short Courses on (07) 5581 8300.
  • Students should bring a pen and paper for note taking - handouts are also provided in class.
  • Students need to present their Confirmation of Enrolment to the carpark attendant each week to be eligible for discounted parking.

Classes are held on:

  • Wednesday 12 July - Wednesday 30 August 2017 from 9.00am-11.30am (8 sessions) at Southport, Level 4, Room 410
  • Monday 17 July - Monday 28 August 2017 from 6.00pm-8.30pm (7 sessions) at Southport, Level 4, Room 406

Please note - This course is offered once a week on a specific day each week. Throughout the year we vary the day that each delivery package may be offered to suit students’ needs and availability. Students are enrolling in a specific day for the duration of the course. Refer to the dates on your Confirmation of Enrolment.

Outcome

At the end of the course, students will be able to communicate on topics such as self-introduction, introducing one’s family, likes and dislikes. They will be able to identify and describe people and possession. They will have full command of complex numbers, serial numbers, date and time. They will have the ability to express themselves in the present tense but also discuss future projects.
