Gain trade qualifications in gas fitting

To study for the Certificate III in Gas Fitting you must hold a valid Queensland Plumber’s and Drainer’s Licence or be a qualified electrician, boilermaker, fitter or refrigeration mechanic. The course will train you in gas detection, LP storage, appliance flues, gas piping systems and the installation of gas appliances. Entry requirements

  • Students must either hold a valid Queensland Plumber's and Drainer's Licence or the course is open to eligible electricians, boilermakers/welders, fitters and refrigeration mechanics who will be required to undertake an RPL process to gain the common stream competencies.
  • Students will need to hold a current First Aid Certificate to receive their Certificate III.  TAFE Queensland Gold Coast hold Provide First Aid classes.

  • After enrolment, all applicants must complete a short quiz on Literacy and Numeracy levels using the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) prior to orientation dates or prior to the first day of class.

Resources required

Students will require steel capped work boots, safety glasses, pens, paper, calculator and a copy of Australian Standards 5601.

Timetable

Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30pm-8.30pm for 6 months at Ashmore, C Block.

Units

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 32 units: 26 core and 6 electives.

Some units in this qualification may have prerequisite requirements, which must be met when packaging the qualification. Users are referred to the list of CPC08 units with prerequisite unit requirements available in this Training Package for this purpose.
