Learn the essentials with this MYOB course!

Gain the basic knowledge for employment in an accounts position with MYOB, from basics through to intermediate level and also MYOB Payroll. Suitable for anyone requiring knowledge from the ground up. It will give you the confidence that you have the basic skills to gain employment.

Through the Introduction to Accounting you will learn to use a range of calculation methods and techniques for conducting routine financial calculations and transactions.  You will also be instructed in manual data entry in Ledgers and Trial Balance.

Students will be using MYOB Student Edition version 19.8 software.

This bundle includes Introduction to Accounting, MYOB Accounting and MYOB Payroll.

MYOB Payroll
Setting up a payroll in MYOB; entering historical information; payroll categories including payment of allowances; setting up deduction; understanding superannuation and PAYG tax; paying wages (by cash, cheque and electronically); payroll reports; end of month procedures; payment of payroll liabilities; end of year processes; payment summaries; end of year roll over; conducting a paying run; customising payroll; timesheets; entitlements; payroll obligations.

Entry requirements

  • Students will need to understand basic bookkeeping terminology and have basic computer skills before enrolling in this course.
  • You will also need to have a good understanding of the English language and be able to read and understand comprehensive manuals.

Resources required

  • Please bring a blue or black pen, pencil, eraser, writing paper, calculator and USB memory stick.
  • Students receive a comprehensive manual and MYOB Student Edition version 19.8 software.
  • Students need to present their Confirmation of Enrolment to the car park attendant each week to be eligible for discounted parking.

Classes are held on:

  • Friday 14 July - Friday 8 September 2017 from 8.30am-1.30pm (8 sessions) at Southport, Level 3, Room 306. No class on 1/9/17
  • Saturday 23 September - Saturday 11 November 2017 from 9.00am-2.00pm (8 sessions) at Southport, Level 2, Room 203

Please note - This course is offered once a week on a specific day each week. Throughout the year we vary the day that each delivery package may be offered to suit students’ needs and availability. Students are enrolling in a specific day for the duration of the course. Refer to the dates on your Confirmation of Enrolment.

Outcome

By the end of the course students are expected to be able to understand the principles involved in using MYOB and MYOB Payroll, perform the necessary keyboard entries, and generate the appropriate financial reports. Students will also be able to understand the principles involved in using some of the more basic aspects of MYOB as well as being able to setup and manage a payroll in MYOB.  You will have the knowledge to analyse and audit all data entries in bookkeeping to Trial Balance stage.

This course provides the students with more specialised skills in the MYOB computer accounting package and using the Payroll section of MYOB.  For those wanting a career in Accounting it may lead to a certificate course e.g.  Certificate IV in Accounting and Certificate IV in Bookkeeping.
