Entry requirements

  • Some units may have prerequisites.
  • All units are available each term. There are 45 units to choose from however there is a specific order in which students need to complete the subjects.
  • Students must email electricalengineering.goldcoast@tafe.qld.edu.au prior to enrolling into any units. A course advisor will contact you to advise which units to enrol into.
  • All applicants (direct entry or applying through QTAC) must provide a copy of their Year 12 certificate.  Applicants that are not able to produce a copy of this document are required to complete the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) test before enrolment.
  • To access Higher Level Skills funding for this course the prospective student must meet all subsidy eligibility.

Resources required

  • Students are required to bring pens, a notepad and a USB memory stick/flash drive.
  • Text books and supplies are not included in the cost of the course.
  • A book list, material list and timetable will be available at Orientation.

Timetable

Blended learning (which includes face-to-face, on the job and self-paced learning) is conducted at Ashmore.  Students have up to 4 years to complete the 28 core units and a selection of elective units with a points value of 720. The teacher can help you determine which elective units will best suit your needs.  Study may be full-time, part-time in the day or evening.

This qualification will be awarded on successful completion of all the core competency standard units listed and the listed electives which have been selected in line with the training package requirements.

The requirements for granting this qualification will be met when competency is demonstrated and achieved for all the core competency standard units and a combination of elective competency standard units to achieve a total weighting of 720 points.
