Entry requirements

  • Students should have completed Year 12 or be a mature age student (18 years of age and over) with sound achievement in English and Mathematics.
  • All applicants (direct entry or applying through QTAC) must provide a copy of their Year 12 certificate.  Applicants that are not able to produce a copy of this document are required to complete the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) test before enrolment.
  • To access Higher Level Skills funding for this course the prospective student must meet all subsidy eligibility.
  • Due to recent funding changes in Queensland, your eligibility for subsidised study is now only available for one of these qualifications.  You will need to enrol as a Fee for Service student, or alternatively access the VET FEE-HELP option, for the remaining units of competency that will allow you to study and remain eligible for the dual qualifications.

Resources required

  • There is a set uniform to be purchased.  A representative from our supplier Totally Workwear will be available during the first week of the course for students to be fitted and to make payment. Students will be required to wear a compulsory uniform consisting of two white shirts and a pair of black pants or skirt (approximately $150). These may also be purchased directly through our supplier Totally Workwear phone 1800 771 784.
  • Students require the following textbook 'Management' 5th edition by Kris Cole (approximate cost of $104.00). This book can be obtained through most bookstores.

Timetable

  • Delivery is via a combination of on-campus, blended learning, integrated theory, practical application of skills and knowledge in modern classrooms linked to enjoyable work experience with our industry partners (rostered time to be confirmed).
  • Theory and practical classes will be held at Southport for 1 year over 5 days (timetable to be confirmed and is subject to change).  Please consult Connect for your individual class times and room location prior to attending TAFE.
  • In addition to the hours you will spend in class, it is expected that you will spend at least 5 hours a week outside of class undertaking your own personal study.
  • You will need to have your Student ID Card SALTO activated to attend classes in the evening. Please speak to a Customer Service consultant for further information.

VET Student Loans

VET Student Loans are an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

You are eligible for a VET Student Loan if you:

  • are an Australian citizen; or
  • are a New Zealand Special Category Visa holder who meets long-term residency requirements; or
  • are a permanent humanitarian visa holder (resident in Australia for the duration of the unit); AND
  • have not exceeded the FEE HELP limit (see below); AND
  • have an Australian Tax File Number (TFN) or Certificate of Application for a TFN; AND
  • can provide a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate); or
  • are assessed as a minimum of Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ASCF) in both reading and numeracy

Please note that all students enrolling in an accredited course are required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Concession

You are eligible for the concession price of a course if you are eligible for subsidised training, and are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or if you have a disability.

Additional costs

There is an additional cost for a compulsory uniform (see Resources Required on the Course Details tab). You will also need to purchase a textbook.
