Develop a career in media

Media and communications is a profession which requires a wide array of skills and can follow a variety of paths. That is what makes it so interesting. It is an amalgamation of journalism, public relations and marketing for an external and internal audience. Media and communications can often mean no two days are ever the same.

This course will introduce you to media and communications in the 21st century and how it can be used. It will develop your awareness of the many elements of the role and explain why it can be an exciting career path. It will show why good writing, planning, and a friendly and helpful personality are at the heart of being a good communicator.

Presented by a former BBC Radio journalist and editor who utilised his skills in the media and communications industry with a large Queensland-based organisation, the course will include:

  • Explanation of media and communications
  • Professional avenues for a media and communications specialist
  • The many elements which make it so exciting
  • The variety of writing skills to suit the audience
  • Communication plans and strategies
  • Speech writing
