Learn the basics of how to take your business online!

This introductory course is an extension of our Introduction to Marketing for Small Business course and looks at the way businesses can start to use online methods to help build markets, create brands and find customers. You too can take your business online and learn from the experiences of others.  It consists of three components, each looking at different aspects of the business Internet.

This three week course includes introductions to Online Marketing, Social Media and Blogging for Business.

Online marketing
The business world is changing rapidly and nowhere is that change more evident than in the rise of the Internet as a medium for marketing, sales and brand building. While some Australian businesses have embraced the Internet, others have been slow to build an online presence. This session will introduce you to the world of websites and online promotion and offers a demystifying look at the Internet and show you how you can use it to grow your business at very little cost.

Social media
For businesses, social media - judiciously used, can help build your brand and assist you in developing a loyal client or customer base. Social media is not just for big business, of the three million plus business pages on Facebook, more than 50 percent of them are owned by small businesses. Be introduced to the power of social media and how this can be used to continue your online influence.

How blogging can help grow your business
More and more people are blogging and many businesses see their corporate blog as an essential business tool. Properly managed, blogs can serve a number of purposes from internal human resource development to customer relationship management. Importantly, companies are realising that blogging helps define their brand and their market position. The key lies in the concept of ‘rich content’ which more than ever is being used by search engines as a tool for gaining prominence for your website. In this session you will learn how with little effort you can become a blogger and the benefits it will bring to your sales and marketing efforts, as well as your business as a whole.
