Know your weeds

Successful completion of this skill set will allow Weed Controllers with commercial weed control experience to be eligible to apply for a Queensland Commercial Operator's Licence, also known as an ACDC Licence.  You’ll be assessed on your knowledge of weed control, preparation of chemicals and the transportation and handling of chemicals. Entry requirements

  • Applicants must be employed in the industry. 
  • Only persons who are at least 17 years of age may be issued a Queensland Commercial Operator's Licence. Students less than 17 years of age can undertake training but will not be issued with the licence until they turn 17.

Resources required

Students will require steel capped safety work boots, gloves, eyewear or goggles, and pen and paper.

Timetable

In-depth training is provided at Ashmore over 2 days (Wednesday 8.00am-4.00pm) which ensures all practical and theory components are thoroughly covered.

Outcome

A Statement of Attainment is required for all units completed to obtain a Queensland Commercial Operator's Licence. After receipt of their Statement of Attainment students need to apply to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) for their licence. There is a licence fee involved so please contact DAF for further information on 13 25 23 or https://www.daf.qld.gov.au.
