Launch your career as a qualified shopfitter

Progress your career in the construction industry by completing this shopfitting course. Complete this qualification as an essential part of your apprenticeship to become a qualified tradesperson.

As one of the three largest industries in Australia, there are many opportunities for more specialised construction workers. Demand for qualified shopfitters is expected to grow steadily over the next five years.

In this course you will learn how to plan and set out fittings for shops and other retail spaces. You'll select from and use a range of materials, tools and machinery to fabricate and assemble the components needed to construct and install shopfronts, cabinets, wall units, showcases and counters. You’ll also learn about surface finishes, occupational health and safety, job planning and management of materials.

Successful completion of this qualification as part of your apprenticeship will make you a qualified shopfitter ready to take the next step in your construction career.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to shopfitting in some States. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements. Course details

Wherever this is the case a TAFE Queensland Gold Coast Trainer is assigned to attend your workplace to deliver training and assess your skills and knowledge.

TAFE Queensland Gold Coast has structured training for various course competencies that are not practised regularly in the workplace so many employers may still choose to send their apprentice to TAFE to learn those skills, however, this is done by negotiation between the employer and the TAFE Queensland Gold Coast Trainer.
