Presenting Partner, GC2018 Basketball

TAFE Queensland hospitality and events students played a vital role in creating and delivering the Great Big Basketball Battle which took over the Cairns Esplanade. Launching our role as Presenting Partner GC2018 Basketball, students put their skills to the test by delivering an event that attracted 1,000 people to the Cairns foreshore live on Channel 9’s The Today Show.

Workforce Orientation Weekend

TAFE Queensland students kick-started the GC2018 Commonwealth Games journey for more than 15,000 of the Games volunteers and workforce. As the Training Partner for the Games, TAFE Queensland students played a key role in delivering the event which saw people travelling from as far as Germany to participate in the launch of the volunteer training journey at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Salon XXI

Two TAFE Queensland students were awarded the winning design for Salon XXI, the hair and beauty salon which will be a feature within the GC2018 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village.

No Train, No Gain Campaign

TAFE Queensland Screen & Media and Fitness students participated in TAFE Queensland’s No Train No Gain campaign which attracted a YouTube audience of more than half a million people!

Queen’s Baton Relay

10 TAFE Queensland students were selected to participate in the longest relay in history, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Queen’s Baton Relay.

In 2018 TAFE Queensland - Gold Coast Region students studying selected courses will have the opportunity to be a part of the Games.

Students will have the opportunity to assist with the bump in of exhibits at the Commonwealth Games Main Media Centre and the setup of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Village Beauty Salon. These students will also have opportunities to assist with various Games related activations.

In 2018 Beauty students on the Gold Coast will have the opportunity to deliver beauty services to athletes, media and officials at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village. The Salon was designed by TAFE Queensland Interior Design and Building Design students.

In 2018 students will have the opportunity to entertain the world’s media at the GC2018 Main Media Centre located in Broadbeach. Students will have the chance to be selected to perform on stage in front of a live, captive domestic and international audience.

Interested in film and television? TAFE Queensland boasts a long standing relationship with NEP - the host broadcaster for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
